Some surfers sure do make it look easy, don’t they? They can ride the waves gracefully and never seem to fall. Well, that comes from years of practice, but if you’re attending our surf school Bali don’t worry, we’ve got some insight for you. After all, you’ll be spending your time with Aloha Bali Surf to learn, so let’s get our feet wet with some surfing tips!
1. Cardio Fitness
Surfing takes a lot of body strength. You’ll be using every muscle, and your cardio will need to be up to speed as well. This is because you’ll be chasing down waves and paddling, so the more cardio you can do, the more prepared you’ll be once you hit the water.
2. Size Up Your Surfboard
You’d be surprised at how often surfing is seemingly impossible just because you don’t have the right surfboard size. Thankfully, the staff at Aloha Bali Surf can help you out with that. We’ll find the perfect board size for you and your level.
3. Eat Healthy
You need a lot of energy when surfing, so eat healthy and refuel often. Lots of food and water is an absolute must. Any kind of fruits of vegetables, or other types of food that can give you energy is essential for a long day in the water.
4. Know Your Limits
No one becomes a pro in a day. While surfing, it’s especially important to know your limits. Out on the water, conditions can change quickly and if the ocean starts producing waves that are a out of your comfort zone, don’t hesitate to call it in until the sea calms down a little.
5. Keep Your Eyes Open
Another thing that most people don’t really consider, is keeping their eyes open while they’re on the board, but while they’re underwater as well. Surfers practice something called a duck dive, where they dive under the water to come out upon the surface of the wave. Keeping those eyes open at all times can help you come out right on top of the perfect wave.
